Visa Exemption
Nationals of countries that have concluded visa-exemption agreements with Mongolia are not required to obtain a visa, provided that the purpose and duration of their visit comply with the conditions and permitted period established under the relevant agreement.

Citizens of the Member States of the European Union, including citizens of Hungary, may travel to Mongolia without a visa for tourism purposes for a stay of up to 30 days.
This temporary visa-exemption arrangement will remain valid until 31 December 2026.
Important information
The visa exemption applies to short-term visits for tourism purposes only. Foreign nationals intending to travel to Mongolia for employment, study, business activities or other purposes must obtain the appropriate category of visa before travelling.
Travellers are advised to ensure that:
- their passport remains valid for the duration of the intended stay;
- the purpose of their visit corresponds to the visa-free tourism conditions; and
- they leave Mongolia before the authorised 30-day period expires, unless an extension has been approved.
E-Visa (For citizens of eligible countries only)
The Government of Mongolia issues electronic visas to citizens of certain eligible countries, including Serbia, in order to facilitate travel and support the development of tourism.
Citizens of countries that are eligible for visa-free entry to Mongolia are not required to apply for an e-visa for visits covered by the relevant visa-exemption arrangement.
Citizens of eligible countries may apply for the following categories of e-visa:
- K2 visa – for tourism purposes;
- K4 visa – for participation in sports, cultural or artistic events, as well as for film production and other media-related activities.
E-visa applicants are not required to submit any documents to the Embassy. The entire application process is completed online through the electronic visa system.
Once the application has been submitted and the visa fee has been paid, processing usually takes approximately 48–72 hours. Applicants receive outcome of the application by email.
If approved, the applicant will receive an electronic visa containing a QR code, which may be presented directly at the border when entering Mongolia. Travellers are advised to carry either a digital or printed copy of their approved e-visa and present it, when requested, to airline staff and Mongolian border control authorities.
Payment
The visa fee may be paid by credit or debit card.
When selecting the payment method, choose “American Express.” You will then be redirected to the Golomt Bank payment page, where you can enter your card details and complete the payment.
Passport and Photo Upload
Please ensure that the passport copy uploaded to the system is:
- clear and of high quality;
- fully visible;
- not blurred, cropped or obscured; and
- uploaded in the required file format and size.
Poor-quality or unreadable passport copies may delay the processing of the application.
Extension of stay
Where necessary and on reasonable grounds, a foreign national may apply to the Immigration Agency of Mongolia for a one-time extension of their authorised stay for a period of up to 30 additional days.
The extension is not granted automatically and remains subject to the assessment and approval of the Immigration Agency of Mongolia. Applications should be submitted at least five working days before the expiry of the authorised period of stay.
Applications may be submitted electronically through the official immigration e-service system or directly to the Immigration Agency of Mongolia.
Travellers are encouraged to verify the applicable entry and extension requirements before their departure, as immigration regulations and application procedures may be subject to change.

Other Visa Categories Requiring a Visa Permit
For certain visa categories, applicants must obtain a visa permit from the Immigration Agency of Mongolia before a visa can be issued.
A visa permit may only be requested on behalf of the applicant by:
- a Mongolian citizen or permanent resident residing in Mongolia; or
- an organisation registered in Mongolia, such as a business entity, government agency or non-governmental organisation.
Important information
The visa permit specifies the diplomatic mission or location where the visa must be issued.
Applicants requesting visa issuance at the Embassy of Mongolia must submit a completed visa application form together with the approved visa permit.
Visa fees vary depending on the visa category, number of permitted entries and duration of stay.
Applicants intending to obtain a residence permit must enter Mongolia using the appropriate visa category.
Applications for residence permits may only be submitted after entering Mongolia.

A visa permit is required for

Applying for a Visa at the Embassy of Mongolia

Applicants may apply directly at the Embassy of Mongolia for the following visa categories:
- A2 visa – for diplomats and government officials. Prior official approval is required.
- H2 visa – for Mongolian citizens holding dual citizenship, for a stay of up to 90 days.
- F2 visa – for foreign nationals who previously held Mongolian citizenship, for a stay of up to 90 days.
- F3 visa – for children under 16 years of age who have at least one Mongolian parent, for a stay of up to 90 days.
- K2 visa – for tourists from countries that are not eligible for an e-visa or visa-free entry.
- Visas requiring a visa permit – for applicants who have obtained prior approval from the Immigration Agency of Mongolia.
Required documents
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- a completed visa application form;
- an original passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended date of travel to Mongolia;
- one recent photograph measuring 3.5 × 4.5 cm;
- proof of payment of the applicable visa fee;
- an approved visa permit, where required; and
- any additional supporting documents relevant to the purpose of travel.
Visa fees are non-refundable.
Additional requirements for A2 visa applicants
Applicants for an A2 visa must provide an official request issued by:
- the sending authority;
- the relevant ministry of foreign affairs; or
- a foreign diplomatic mission or international organisation.
The visa fee may be waived depending on the applicant’s official status and the purpose of the visit.
Additional requirements for F3 visa applicants
Applicants for an F3 visa must also submit:
- the child’s birth certificate; and
- documents confirming the Mongolian citizenship of the parent.
The Mongolian parent must sign the application.
Processing Time
The standard processing time for a visa application is approximately three working days, provided that all required documents have been submitted.
Expedited processing may be available for an additional fee where the application is complete and supported by sufficient documentation.
Depending on the visa category and the documents submitted, some applications may require five to ten working days to process.
The consular officer may request additional documents or information to verify the purpose of the applicant’s visit. Submission of an application does not guarantee that a visa will be issued.

Important Notices
• All application documents must be submitted as printed hard copies. Electronic or digital copies presented on a phone, tablet or by email will not be accepted unless specifically requested by the Embassy.
• Applicants may pay the applicable visa fee when submitting their application at the Embassy.
• Where an applicant is unable to submit or collect the application in person, an authorised courier or representative may do so on the applicant’s behalf. A signed authorisation letter from the applicant must be provided.
• F3 visa applications must be submitted in person.
• Foreign nationals may be required to provide biometric information to the border authorities upon entering Mongolia.
• The visa category, validity period, permitted duration of stay and number of entries vary according to the purpose of travel and the type of visa issued.
• Holding a visa does not automatically guarantee entry into Mongolia. The final decision on admission is made by the competent border control authorities.
